you don't NEED a monoblock. You can always get a 2 Channel amp, but they are more expensive to power the subs. Lets say you have 300WRMS subs...that means each channel on the 2 channel amp needs to push out 300WRMS to push the subs at their potential. Though if you get a monoblock, you can get an 600WRMS amp for cheaper to power both amps.

Monoblocks (Class-D) put less work on the electrical part of the car and can put out good power and less heat. So a monoblock to power 2 subs is always a good option but you don't NEED a monoblock to power 2 subs.

I run 2 x 10" subs rated at 250WRMS each which run off a monoblock that puts out 798WRMS @ 2ohms at 12Vs or 800WRMS @ 14.4Vs. Which is overkill, but I prefer to use that amp rather then my 4 channel amp when brdiged only give 2 x 200WRMS which is going to underpower my subs. The difference in price of the 2 amps was 100 bucks.

phong =P~
