Anyone know how much it costs to get the head reco'ed plus port'npolish and bigger valves??

RECO anywhere from $200 up to $400 depending on parts used.
Port and polish is charged by the hour but typically up to $400
Can't do bigger valves AFAIK. AU has the bigger XR6 valves to start with.


Since you are in Geelong, go see Johnny Dyno Engines in Edols St Nth Geelong. There are other places down there that also do good work but the name escapes me at the minute. Maybe its Nth Geelong Engine Reconditioners or something, they are in Victoria St near the corner of Douro St. At one stage i put everything through REPCO's machine shop but then started going to Johnny's.

nowhere in the article does it mention power increase...
it refers to FLOW* as do all properly tested port jobs.

*The flow measured in cfm and a predicted HP potential.

Yes you will probably get more power from the stock-engine-with-ported-head as it will be breathing better but don't confuse the issues being discussed. These mods alone will not make for a 362hp engine unless everything else is done to support that power level.

IMO the chamber mods aren't necessary unless you are looking at forced induction in which case even more material can be removed than is shown.
