I think you'll find they [ Motec, Autronic, etc] use there own pick up sensors etc.. But using Fords sensors and pick up would be far better if they could program ecu that way, plug and play ...

I had my Motec working on the Ford 36-1 and Cam Angle Sensor without any problems (EF 6cyl EDIS).

the teeth on the ba cams im pretty sure are cast as part ofthe cam, so you dont remove a gear or anything to do it, you just have to cut off the teeth you dont want to see.

the sm4 has a dedicated crank trigger input, a dedicated sync input, and looking at the diagram, you connect other cam inputs to the HSI2/3 inputs. so im not completely sure if that means you need 3 cam sensors, or whether one of the sensors is used to read sync and cam position, and the other just reads cam position... either way, there is plenty of available inputs to do this

as for using there own pickup sensors, this is just for intake air temp, other than that it will integrate with pretty much any factory sensor

Thanks for that ebs. The autronic seems better set up for the twin cam engine than the wolf.

I wonder if it would be difficult to get some verneir gears and custom grind cams for the BA motor and do away with the VCT altogether. The twin cam jap cars have been doing alright for years without VCT.

it is always beneficial to use VCT if you have it...

although, the gains prob dont outweigh the headfuks of setting it all up..

personally, i would go through all the trouble of setting it up, no point not using it if its there

Yeah Im gonna wait for the new autronic chip set to come out, that way I can fit it myself without any hassles. I still have lots of little stuff I can do in the mean time. Gotta change the heater core for starters :(

oh, as for the map sensor, the std internal one i think is (3 bar abosulte)... which equals 30psi boost, and i think you can get an upgrade one to 5 bar absolute (60psi boost)

i will check this info, just for my own curiosity...

FYI Atomic performance make a kit to convert the stock cam wheels on the BA motor into vernier gears for $450. This would eliminate the need for an autronic or motec as you could set them at the optimum fixed position.

If I had of kept my EMS i would have went this way but I will stick it out for the autronic and use the waiting time to do the little things on the car properly. I just used some ECU money to buy some rods
