just wondering if it would be worth buying another el tickford engine and buying bit and pieces for that instead of my tickford engine in my car atm, would it be much easier seems the engine is out off the car, want to do as much as possible to the enigne over a period of 6 + months.

Why? Just buy cam and what not for your current engine. Then when your ready pull it out, whipe the head off to the shop and bottom end aswell if your doing it to, put it back together and back in the car.
For the extra cost of the second engine and the fact that it's not gunna save you much more than a few days time wise I just don't see it being worth it personally...
