I picked up a pair of upper control arms for an XR from Pedders and installed them today, whow what a difference. The only problem is that I had to install the one marked L on the drivers side and the one from the R box on the other side otherwise the bend in the arm could touch the diff way before it ended its travel. I have it so the bend in the arm is at the rear and bends the arm down just before it connects with the diff. Does anyone know why the markings on the arms are apparently wrong?

Sounds asthough the stamp is incorrect. The bend to the rear should be facing down towards the diff and the bend from front to back should be facing out towards the rear. By how you have described this is how you have mounted them. Let pedders know and they should contact their supplyer and raise a non comforming material request.

Went and seen them today and after a bit of convincing culminating in a look under the car the guy agrees the L and R are the wrong sides.

Funny that was how the guy at pedders thought they should be installed.
