Hi every body,
I was wondering if anyone has any ball park figures for an xf falcon,
with a lumpy cam, high compresson pistons, an ultraflow intake manifold with a twin barrel weber carb and a high flow exhaust system. I am having a bit of a dispute with my dad who reckons that the Xflow engine is a gutless heap of junk, as he owns a pre Xflow Xb falcon ute. Also do you think that it would be worth my while removing the Xflow and replacing it with an engine out of an xb in search of power- as the production figuers are better for the older engine.

Thanks for your help

Matt

The power of the older engines was measured differently so they look better on paper compared to the newer stuff.

I wouldnt hazard a guess based without more details of the modifications to both engines, why not run them both on the dyno and you will know for sure.

The old 250's put down around 80-90 depending on who you talk to rwkw at best. With mods I'd say you'd have a crack at maybe 100rwkw

seen a crossy go 200rwkw on the dyno, had a lot of work though 60thou over acl flat tops lightened & balanced bottom end, mild cam, ported and polished head, preformance valves springs, 350 holloy and graphed dissy, my crossy would be 160rwkw+ never had it on a dyno but keeps up to the engine above.

It has been done - many times actually.

Grant (Injected_250) has 180rwkw out of his NA 250. Runs 12.6@107mph

well you should get out more, my brothers engine with 200rwkw has had $2500 spent on the head alone, its probly worth 5k+ minus bolt on's, it wont run anythink but avgas and its a speedway engine, i said at a guess mine crossy would have 160rwkw+ i built the motor myself and i put alot of money and time into it. i will get to the dyno one day soon, the car is being reshelled at the moment, but i should have it running buy next week when i do i will post a sound clip and you can listen just how far it is from stock.
