meh i don't really like the GRA method so much as they use barb fittings and plain hose. Nearly every barb fitting will leak at least some oil. This would be unacceptable to most people. Personally i would also want to remove the sump for these mods. I just don't trust that method.
You would do much better to: 1. buy the correct turbo oil drain parts to suit your turbo. 2. go to an industrial hose specialist (Pirtek/Enzed)or Then get a special hose with proper ends made to fit. They will supply the brass fittings and tap. 3. Another option is to buy the correct speedflow/earl's dash fittings and cut the braided hose yourself to suit the job. Probably the most expensive option but looks trick and shouldn't ever leak.

Already have the correct drain hose attached to turbo , all i need is peoples recommended installation technique of sump fitting to cast au sump as a punch wouldnt work??? and also will any turbo charger shop have the sump fittings and taps for sale ????

I would take the sump off and do it as well. A lot of filings come off when you drill a hole into alloy. A punch wont work on alloy.
When I did mine I went to pirtek, bought a hose end fitting and took it to a mechanic who tapped a hole for me to suit. Cost me $30 all up. Im gonna replace it with a speedflow item when i do water and oil lines though to make it look pretty. |

if you tap the hole with the sump still on the engine can i suggest the following tips:
Drain the oil and fill the sump with deisel. Drill a pilot hole before drilling the larger hole. Smear the tap with grease and as you work it in half a turn or so at a time back it off before taking a new "bite". The grease will catch the filings. If you have a little hook type tool small enough to go in the hole, try to scrape the internal side of the sump to catch any alloy swarf left by the drill that is hanging by a thread. Drain the deisel out through a rag to see if you are catching the filings. Pour the filtered deisel back through a couple of times to flush it. Use teflon tape on the fitting when installing. As for the taps and the fittings just take your hose to Pirtek or whatever and get the fitting. Then go to a tool shop for the tap and drill bit, remembering that the drill size is slightly smaller than the tap size. I have no idea what thread you are working with.

i guess that depends entirely on where you place it.
The drain point should be above the oil level. because the direction of crank throw splashes oil on the turbo side, you should also aim to fit the drain in line with a mains cap. This is also why you should aim to fit a large drain ID. the ribs can be ground back with a die grinder. also bear in mind you need to access the sump bolt so don't stick it directly beneath, leave enough room to slide it in and out and to get a socket onto it.
