Heya all - need some help with engine management

Recently had some work done to my ED -
New cam, LSD w steeper gearing, bottom end built to speedway specs etc.

Currently have a Unichip installed - have had it for a few years, was good to start with - there were tuners everywhere.

Now I'm heading off on holiday at the end of the week, and the place that I'd previously spoken to about having the chip retuned at has suddenly become busy, and they're not sure if they'll be able to fit it in in the timeframe I have.

What I wanted to check was whether anyone had had either a chip or aftermarket ecu installed (preferably through the western suburbs, though I'll be having the car towed to be tuned so that's not mega important).
I'm wanting to find out where people have has their work done, with what system, and what they were charged for it.

I'm hoping to pick up a system for around the 1200 dollar mark (a little flex here), and hopefully figure out which tuner is actually good with the system.

Any help very much appreciated. Hoping to have this done ASAP.

If a good tuner is what you're after then it's best to find the tuner, and then get him to recommend the system to use. Having said that, Microtech, Wolf, and the common types are normally not too hard to find tuner for.

Also if most tuners will tune other ECUs, as long as you bring the laptop setup and ready for them.

In mine Ive got my Megasquirt, and I tune that myself.

Cheers

Does anyone have a favourite tuner to recommend?

For $1200 you dont have many options other than a retune of your unichip. It might pay for the ECU but wont cover fitting or tuning. Does unichip have a website where they list the dealers and tuners?

Bresciani do the microtech's fairly cheaply. I was quoted $1800 for them to fit one to my BA motor. It doesnt get much cheaper than that.

Just to clarify - that price was only for the unit - tuning on top of it is fine.

Also, for the Unichip, APS has a list of tuners - however only three of the seven listed still tune em :x

Call Bresciani. You would be able to get a cheaper microtech than what I would have needed so I guess you would be able to expect a cheaper cost than $1800.

I needed sequential igniton.

Thanks to you Dan :)

I was figuring from the sticky (ECU's) thread that for hardware alone I'd have a few options. Just trying to find tuners :?

Nope - sorry.
I ended up switching to the new CAPA chip.
I should probably get around to selling the Unichip at some point.
