hi,
just noticed last night. when i accelerate reasonably the red battery warning light seems to flicker on (possibly stronger the stronger i accelerate). i know my battery isnt in that good a condition but this supprises me. might it be an electrics prob? anyone gon any ideas? thanks ben

May be loose and slipping when you give it a bit of curry. |

check the block earth lead... it happened to mine, but my starter didnt work either... turns out it was my earth lead on the block loose

it could be your alternator bushes or regulator. the more you accelerate the more current the fuel pump draws from the battery which then causes it to be unable to cope.

sounds like the alternator bushes are on there way out, two ways to fix it go buy a new regulator has new bushes as part of the unit or a cheaper option pull the regulator out the back of the alt and replace the bushes, not that hard to do as long as you have some idea on how to solder, cost me $2.60 last time i replaced mine.

i simply dropped a black wire off the back o the alternator and car was doin exactly the same thing...i was accelerating and the engine would move just enuff to lose contact

does it keep getting brighter? if it does u have blown diodes in ur alternator, worn brushes wont bring the light on when accelerating. blown diodes will

man this used to happen on my old boxcar, f**k if I can remember how I fixed it tho... get autoelectrician to give her a look at, will tell u straight away if they half decent

yeah sry i was away. it hasent really reoccured and i think it might just have been the alt belt, because i replaced my AC belt the other day and as you all know that means you have to remove the others.
