Hey ppl, i was just wondering what are you're views on fords with droptanks?
I never thought id see a ford (EF/EL) with a droptank, but i just saw one on the way home..looked pretty hot. Just wondering if anyone else has a droptank picture or info they'd like to share.
Cheers :)

p.s. I liked this droptank because of the way it was positioned. You could only see a small bit of it, but it was still noticeable. I think thats what made it look so good

AFAIK, the only 'drop tanks' for the EF/EL's were fakers - didn't 4D PWR have one on his? go talk to a metal fabricator or something and they'd be able to help you out.

Ive seen an EB GT down in bunbury cruising around with an aluminum drop tank, just for the dual exhaust. Looked alright, but it was a little too low for my liking

I saw an 87 model XF with a V8 conversion and it had a custom alloy drop tank on it and it looked excellent.
I also remember reading an article about someone who converted a SLR 5000 Torana alloy drop tank to fit an EA Falcon and it too looked excellent.

Yeah i love the look of drop tanks, looks mean..

Id love to get one for mine also (el xr8), but have never seen any 'real' ones.. And besides, wouldnt they sit heaps off centre? Ie. On the far left? Cos the tank doesnt sit in the middle..

I would have loved a duel exhaust system to run 1 pipe down either side of the vehicle, but that damn petrol tank in is the way.. Bastards should of put it in the middle, lol

Remove the wheel well. Who needs spares anyway!

My wagon has a drop tank. It's not real though. It's actually that my petrol tank has been cut in half or something. The half closest to the back has been removed. In it's place there's a drop tank type thing which is actually a protective layer thingo to protect the LPG tank, which is inside it, incase the rear of the car hits anything.
If I sprayed it silver, like most of the Commos I've seen with drop tanks, most people would think it is...

If you had some creative bending done you could have a centred drop tank and still keep the spare wheel well. Nothing says they have to be a standard brick shape.
Tailpipe each side, shiny tank and the convenience of a spare still.

just be carefull witha drop tank as the increase in size ie wiegt of fuel will throw all your handling out... and you need to mak sure the dule tank is baffled to stop sloshing around!
