i am suspecting the cat or loose panel

at revs over 2500 and sometimes lower such as when reversing i get a tapping/rattle sound from the engine bay. this was before i did the head and i thought after chagning the head it may dissapear but its still there


any ideas or anyone else had this

Same thing happens to me, but I know the reason for that. I put in extractors in my XC, and the main pipe now runs about an inch closer to the chassis than standard, and when you select reverse or rev the christ out of it, the pipe bangs on the frame of the car.
I'm no expert but hell, its a suggestion worth exploring.

get ur head under the hood pull the throttle cable and see where the noise is coming from.

i have a noise coming from under the front of the rocker cover, i think its a timing chain issue! it also happens between 2000 and 3000 rpm only...
