cant u use an AU head ? generally there are a few sub 100k engines at wreckers. if u are going to get reconditioned u could always get your valve gear put it that one so u can still use your e series stuff.

Now thats a good point?

I know you can swap and engines but I am unsure if the heads are the same.............

Who knows if you can or cant or if its too much hassle?

Only thing different between AU and E series heads is the valve gear is different and you can't swap valve gear between AU and E series. You can swap the heads but what ever valve gear they came with from the factory has to stay on them. capiche?

Now I am confused..........

So you cant have AU valve gear on a ef engine

But if I buy a AU head you have to Keep the AU Valve Gear

So therefore you cant have an Au head on an EF

Or am I totally confused

You can put an AU head on an EF and an EF head on an AU. But AU valve gear must stay on an AU head and EF Valve gear must stay on an EF regardless of what bottom end you bolt them to.
