does anyone know if the gearbox stud patterns on a straight 250 and a ef 4.0 are the same???
would be able to work it out normally but have nothing laying around for comparison ta |

some people re-drill a single rail 250xflow bellhousing to put a T5 behind them. (the ones who are too cheep to buy a propper XF series 2 T5 belhousing)
so i dont see why it couldnt work the other way around... re-drilling a 4.0L bellhousing to suit a single rail.. but 5 gears to 4.. higher revs.. weak gearbox... i dont see any logic.. possibly is u were looking @ toploader. loads of oldschool blokes swear by them over a T5 anyday for strength. my 2c. As said, 250's and 4.0 are way off (starter motor is even on opposite sides).
If ^^^ they are right and you want to put x-series style gearboxes behind a 4.0 you have a few options. If you want a 3 speed auto, use an EA 3 speed bellhousing (will take x-series borg warner gearboxes). For C4/C9/C10's you need a CRS/dellow/etc housing. If you want a singlerail or top loader you can use a T5 bellhousing and re-drill it to take the box. 4.0 T5 bellhousing drilled for single rail: 4.0 T5 bellhousing drilled for toploader:

nah thinkin about puttin a 4.0l in an 67 xr ute that already has supra 5 speed with dellow bell housing. thought maybe i would get away with that box for a while. perhaps i will be doing some more research huh?????

there is a place near me that sells bell housing Toyota Supra to late Ford 6 cylinder (EA onwards) also Blank Ford 6 (from EA onwards) and Toploader & Single Rail to Ford 6 (EA onwards) thay also sell Adapters plates & Kits, here is there site http://www.rodshop.com.au/
