Hey guys,
the other week I had my battery out of the EF - when putting it back in, i left the spanner on top of the coolant overflow bottle and shut the bonnet... yeah yeah, STUPID me now i have a small lump in the bonnet where the f**k hit the inside of the bonnet! whats the best way to fix something like this, or am i stuck with this f**k lump in the bonnet? It's not very big - most people woulnt notice it, but i know its there... CIA Adz

Ya best bet might be to try those paintless dent removal dudes, should be able to find them in the yellow pages I'd say..

I did think that, but its not a dent from the out-side, but a dent from the inside - so its a lump on the outside (if that makes sense)
I guess they should still be able to do something? worth a try any way.... if i were to cut in XR bonnet vents - are they over the part i hit (coolant overflow) or are they higher up the bonnet?

Those paintless dent removal guys use a series of small hits on the inside of the panel to remove a dent that is dented inwards. To do the same for a outward dent they would end up damaging the outside paint work.

I assume you've never seen one of these guys in action. They did a decent job on my car removing 2 outward facing dents. Give a dent remover a call, they will come inspect the dent and tell you if it can be fixed or not. Then you'll know where you stand. Adz, if you were in Melbourne, I'd give you the number of the bloke who did my car after someone backed into it and knocked a foot long x 10cm dent into the rear 1/4. Can't even tell it was ever there now. |

Don't assume anything!
A good mate of mine did the course a couple of years ago. He is a panel beater by trade and wanted to add another skill. I watched him take out several dents from his wife VS all inward facing dents though. Seeing that and the marks it left on the inside of the boot lid (looked great on the outside) I wouldn't want that method done to a outward facing dent. I'll have a chat to him tonight about outward facing dents, maybe they use a different method.

Every dent remover I have seen uses a method of massaging the dent with rollers on special tools. From a small crease to a crumpled or bowed panel.
Small outward facing dents they removed with a strong wax like punch, which didn't damage the paint at all. Once again, can't tell there was even a dent there. Oh, and the inside of my rear 1/4 looks like it rolled out the factory too. No damage whatsoever. |

dont remove it, sell it on ebay... "EF bonnet with hump" set your reserve at $600 or so
