I am having a problem with the switch on my rear passengers courtesy light in my BA XR6 (the one that turns on when you open the door), but I cannot figure out how to remove the whole light unit, theres no instructions in the manual on how to do this.
Any ideas? Thanks Will

Hmm, I tried this yesterday and nearly damaged it trying to pull it out of the roof. I gave up since it was only exploratory.
Workshop Manual says just to pull it out and disconnect the wires, so it must be either a clip-fit or friction fit. If you get/got it out, is there any chance you could take a pic of the unit and post it here so where know where the clips are? I'm the first to admit that sometimes I have trouble with what should be the easy stuff. It's not immediately clear if things would come free if you pull harder, or if things will break. Lukeyson |

G'day all,
I too have just done this. Get a small flat jewelers screwdriver and insert it gently between plastic lens and the surround at the front and gently lever it out. The whole lens and switch will come out as one, then just unplug. The problem I had was that it would not turn on manually and found that the switch contactor was not actually touching the mating piece and so I managed to bend the contactor open more. Hey presto it worked. The switches body is clear plastic so once you get it out you will see what I mean. cya EFfutura |
