just curious, but can you use ABS rotors on a non ABS car, are they the same or what? and also what makes up the ABS, how hard is it to take from one car and put into another?

i belevie the rotors can be swaped but with putting abs from one car to anouther would be a big job, and would have to be off the same car that it was going on to.

the money spent to put abs on a non abs car would be better spent on an advanced driving coares and learning how to brake properly in an emergancy.
then going out and practicing every weekend until it becomes secong nature |

The only differance between the rotors are the ABS ones have a tone wheel (small wheel with lots of small slits in it) inside it. You can use them on a non ABS car, you can't do it the other way around. As for putting ABS on a non ABS car it would not only be a big job but an expensive one!

The ABS sensor, mounted on the strut, senses the slots in the tone wheel to detect if the wheel is locking up. Without the tone wheel the sensor has nothing to look at, The ABS will not work on that wheel and will bring up the "Check ABS" warning light and error codes.

it wont not only work for that wheel.. the whole abs system turns off till you sort the problem.
but your right about the slots.. rears are different.. the disks are exactly the same.. xpt the abs sensors are on the axles (little notches) for single spinners ,, and lsd has a hub looking thing behind the disk that has notches in it. so dont f**k your lsd or single spinner ABS diffs cos they fkn hard to find replacement parts. (if axles bent get it straightend for 80$ instead of trying to replace it..)

Yeah your right there about the rears, I was refering to the fronts.
This Hub thing does it look like a gear/sprocket? This can be a way of identifing a LSD if your diff tag missing.

If you have got far enough to lift the wheels off the ground all you have to do is rotate one of the wheels, both wheels will rotate in the same direction, also while in neutral try locking one wheel and rotate the other wheel, LSD (unless totally f**k) will not let you rotate the wheel unless you are "He-man Master of the universe".

Nah it was months ago when I did the rear brakes. I remembered that the abs sensor was looking at a gear like wheel. I not going to bother to jack the car up just to see if I have an LSD, but I will remember what you said next time I have the rear wheels off the ground
