just to add, the brakes where squeking real bad on the astra, got the discs machined and sanded the pads back flat (as they were still new didnt want to change them), stoped sqweaking for 7 weeks to be exact, and now they are squeaking just as bad as before, these are bendix advanced. i hope the ultimates are better, like i said previously after being a loyal customer for over 3 years, i will never buy another set of bendix brakes again.

got bendix ultimates from work for $73 and I flushed all the brake fluid with new stuff (used a diff colour to tell I had all the old stuff out) brakes improved to no end. People say that my ultimates will eat my rotors but that is fine by me as they are 2 months old and were warped, now the ultimates have chewed the the warps and they brake really smooth

just because your paying more money doesnt mean its a better pad. ultimates are rated of semi high performance use, eg drifting, towing etc, more then stock use etc.
there was a thread a while back about this, some ppl swear by benix ult's and some say they warp the rotor and cause problems...

i got a set of dba slotted, they lasted about 1 month before warping with bendix pads! NOT HAPPY JAN!

lol, some people have had bad experiences and some good with exactly the same things, just to make it easy to get.
I'm almost positive that i'll be getting them now, just gotta wait for a day or two more on a local bloke before i decide. thanks again for all the help guys |

i reckon bendix are great - i swear by em. ONLY the ultimates though - i havent really tried any of the other ones so can't make a comment on those.
But I've had ultimates inn my old xf, and my EL, and I reckon they are the ducks nuts. Sure theres heaps of dust but at least i know there working. Also, i've found alot of high performance brakes do, and will squeal. So i just put up with em - its when the squeal turns to a grind that i worry. |

if the pad is too soft it causes wear grooves, excessive dust and need replacing sooner. on the plus side they have good stopping distace.
too hard and they squeak so bad you will want to get rid of them just for the peace and quiet but will last longer and gives even wear, but stopping distance isnt as good as softer pads. after using about 4 different brand pads over the years i think bendix are the best choice mainly because of the compound they use. its like choosing tires.

on that last note, getting them in, i am getting a mate to help me put them in (he knows what he is doing more than me!!
 )
He has asked me to ask you guys whether the discs on the falcons are the type which sit over the hub and just use the wheel studs to hold it in place, or or they the type which you need to take the bearings out to get them off? If that makes no sense ill get him to tell me again what he wanted asked!

The latter.... The bearing housing is one piece with the new rotors. You have to remove the bearings to remove the hub/rotor.

i think that is just the front. the rear incorparates your hand brake though.
it would be worht changing the bearings in the front if you dont know when they were done last. at the very lest new hub seals.

Sorry to dig up an old thread guys, but the new brakes are in!! no more shuddering and shaking the whole car to peices everytime i touch the brake pedal!!
My mate and i did the rears ourselves, and took the fronts to a mechanic, just to be safe. got new fluid put in as well. so all in all, goes good now. just gotta bed them in so i can go for a proper strap now
