twr7cx, u got stock headers? Where do these bolt to? The stock heatshield bolts onto the side with the headers... whereas this heatshield looks like it bolts on the top.

hey mr rx7,
here is a mounting diagram i posted earlier on. the original heat sheild may not use all of the exhaust head bolts. the new heat shield will require the front 5 bolts on the top row of the manifold to be loosened by about 5mm to allow the angle to drop in behind them. post a pic up of your manifold pointing out the problem if you still have one... thanks vince

It uses the first 5 top bolts that hold the headers/manifold to the head. It doesn't use the other bolt on the manifold which the stock headshield does. I'm about to make some modifications to my heat shield, nered to shorten the first peice so it only uses the first 4 manifold bolts as otherwise it interfears with the engine lift mount. And I need to take a section out of the front of the heat shield so it can fit in with my oil catch can. |

Ohh I see from that mounting diagram now! I though it bolted directly ONTO the extractors but it will bolt to that little piece (dark blue lined) which then bolts onto the extractors.
Now I haven't taken off my stock heatshield, but am I right to assume that there will be some of those dark blue lined pieces there? Or am I going to have to source them from somewhere?

Comes with the new heat shield. You get the big heat shield, the smaller mounting peice (dark blue line) and the bolts to attach the heat sheild to the smaller peice. |

Wooooooo Hooo I got mine.......
Here are some happy snaps of it as it arrived Note the Mounting Bracket and Bolts are already attached to the heat shield, the cut out u shape hole sections is where the header bolts go through. You will have to remove the heat shield from the mounting bracket and bolt the mounting bracket to the headers first then bolt the heat shied back on to the mounting bracket as it is shown here. This is both the Mounting Bracket and the Heat Sheild which are bolted together made brighter so its easier to see

Anyone else found the slots for the header bolts are quiet lined up? Mine won't push down all the way.

Have you removed the header bolts or have you just loosened them and then tried to push the bracket down. If so you may have to remove the header bolts all the way then fit the bracket........ thats what I would assume anyway.......

i actually tested all of the angles on my car for fitment. try loosening the bolts a bit more and give it a wiggle and a tap and should slot in. otherwise its no real hassle to nip it out with a grinder, or file it, if its too tight... anyone else had this problem?
