Howdy people!
This is my first post so bear with me. I recently purchased at auction an AU1 Fairmont Ghia, build date Dec 98, V8, lowered, 2.5" exhaust, IRS and full leather interior. I bought the car knowing it had been thrashed on the burnout pad judging by the amount of rubber in the rear wheel arches. I figured it was still a good buy for $9K, give it the TLC it needs and I'll still come out in front. I've taken the car to a local diff reconditioner for a rebuild of the diff. To my suprise the guy has said the IRS centre is a 4 pinion single spinner. This is contrary to what I have read on various web sites as to what should be standard especially since the diff is tagged as "High performance". My question is this - what issues will I run into by fitting an LSD center to the IRS diff and 3.73:1 gear set? (Ignoring the obvious error % in speedo readings) Has anyone out there completed a similar modification on this series car? I've read AU2 fairmont ghia have an LSD option after traction control issues have been resolved with AU1 series. I despise the factory traction control, it's too sensitive, so I usually drive with it off unless the road is wet. Is keeping traction control off a suitable work around solution for any such issues? Can it be permanently disabled? Cheers people

When the tag says, "High Performance", it is a single legger, with a 4 pinion centre, but if the tag says "High Performance LSD", then it is LSD.
The Dunnydores have the same thing on their diffs.
