I have EDV8 & want to upgrade the alternator (running twin thermos & climate control) it stuggles with everything flat out. No margin for error.
What does EL alt rate at. Will it fit ED? or do I have the ED alt rewound for higher output. any thoughts and if EL fits does anyone want to off load one? Richie

provided your existing alternator is in good condition, you should be able to get the existing one rewound for the price of a good 2nd hand EL alternator

The EL V8 alternator is rated at 100amps and is a good upgrade for the EB/ED series. Karl (NZ on www.fordforums.com) did a thread about what was involved.

i have fitted a new bosch 120 amp alternator onto a ED 5ltr
not many mods from memory and took bugger all time. we used a VN V6 pulley onto the alternator original belt was retained bolted up on the rhs of the alternator and we made a small bracket for the lh mount. im just going of memory but i know it was very easy and the wiring was very straight forward aswell. |

Just the info I need, I have a serpentine 5.0L setup in the shed but it is missing this key and expensive component, I was thinking of purchasing something like a 120amp alternator instead of finding a genuine item.
