my in-tank fuel sender has s**t its'self so i am gunna have to judge by kms how much fuel i have. so how do i calculate how many litres i use per km? it's a GLI so i dont have a trip computer to do it for me... any help greatly appreciated. i made it home on fumes last night, foot flat to the floor doing 2000rpm in second... PLEASE HELP!

why not replace the sender?
work on 5km to the litre, you'll be safe. |

It really depends on what sort of driving you are doing, ie city or country. If you fill up every 400k's or so you should be safe.
Wouldn't hurt to carry a jerry can in the boot as well.

Fill the tank and drive til it runs out. Then divide litres of fuel used (a whole tank) by kilometres done. Then times that by 100. That give you how many litres you are using per 100km. Then you can jusge it by that. EG. If you fill the tank with 60L then drive 500km then it would be 60/500 = .12 .12 * 100 = 12L/100km. If you do test it this way make sure you carry a jerry can so you can get back to a servo

Just dont drive the car until the part has come in.
You should know how many k's you get out of your car.

Now there's a complex formula! how about this one 60L / number of 100k travelled ie 60/5 = 12
