my ef i6 fairmont rides perfectly but recently when driving in constant acceleration the auto goes 1st-2nd@25km(normal) 2nd-3rd@40(normal) but will stay in third till about 80 or 90(weird) and then switches into 4th.
i gave the auto a service about 10,000km ago and the engine is in mint condition. it also gears up and down perfectly and smooth, so i dont think the tranny is rooted.
i read a thread like this a while ago but cant find it, any 1 know what the problem is???
cheers

it used to change at about 65-70 in econ mode, but now its drives 3rd noticably longer, ive driven heaps of i6 and it just dosent feel right.
ill try to be more specific:
if im crusing on on 85km it will be in 3rd and not gear up to 4th like it should, ev?en if i let off the acc peddal the overdrive will not change in???

tried taking it off econ, it does goes up to 80-90 again before changing to 4th, crusing at 80 still at 3rd.
can this cause overheating tom my tranny?

Try pushing selector toward neutral, from D, while cruising with throttle off, if auto changes up check selector mechanism.
TPS and MAP sensor/tubing can also play funny tricks on occasions.
