,,hi,,can any one help,,,,just bourght 8/96 EF,,,heater works good,,BUT no matter where you put the control on the Dash,,,,THE AIR ONLY BLOWS OUT THE FACE and SIDE VENTS,,,,,,NOTHING AT ALL COMES OUT OF THE DEMISTER VENTS at the windscreen,,,OR the Floor Vents,,,, if you can tell me how to fix or where to look,,that would be great,,thank you Phill ,,PS just thought i better say ,,,that the Air-Con is not working,,when you turn Air-Con ON,, nothing happens other than a SISSING NOISE which comes out of (Passangers Face) air vent area,,,,,,ANY ADVISE ABOUT GETTING DEMISTER OR AIR-CON WORKING WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL,,,,,,thanks again Phill

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak in the system if you have a vac gauge you can check this yourself or take it to a mechanic who has a vacuum tester  :D

Could also be that the VAC lines at the back of the unit have been disconnected.

It's a long shot, but you never know what previous owners may have done!

A vacuum leak will general force the air to the screen (default safety position)

Check the small lines in the engine bay.
Also check the vacuum line on the heater switch (if thats off you'll prolly get these symtoms.)

remove the glovebox and inspect lines there too.
listen for a hiss.

run the car for a bit to get vacuum and then turn it off and listen if it helps
