my battery went flat so i put a good charged one on and it went flat it 30 minutes!!!!
had this happen on another car (EF) and it turned out to be the alternator. also had it happen on an XF and it turned out to be the EST ignition module when it happend on the EF the draining stopped when i disconnected the alt, but this one is acting differently... anyone had a similar problem?

When you say a good charged one, was it checked with a hydrometer?
A discharge of an 80(?) amp hour batt in 30 mins has got to be around 120 amps. Thats wire melting current. When you re-charge your batt next time and before you reconnect the earth (-ve) wire (first one off-last one on) try this. With all switches off connect an old headlight between the battery earth terminal and the body earth cable. Circuit should be battery - ve terminal, wire to globe/headlight, wire back from headlight to body earth cable. If the headlight lights up as normal you've got big troubles. Disconnect headlight and re-connect battery as usual. This time CAREFULLY touch each individual wire coming from positive terminal (+) and see if any are hot. If none of the smaller wires are hot then head to the starter motor but disconnect earth terminal before hand and take to auto electrician. good luck!

i grabbed the battery from my friends car which has not had any issues...
using the headlight as a current indicator is not a bad sounding idea and also i hadn't thougt of checking the starter circuit - good idea...
