I got my car on the diagnostic machine today to work out what is wrong with the tranny. It turns out that the S2 soliniod is rootted. So i can get them to replace it but i thought i would have a go because they said its fairly simple and i would save $150.
They said take the oil pan off, take the oil filter out, take the loom out and then there is a torx to take the soliniod out. It sounds fairly simple... Just wondering if anyone has done a replacement soliniod before? I thought i might make a doco up on it so that if anyone else has to do it then they have a guide. ben

Easy to do but the connectors become brittle with age and break easily. If you drop the sump it is a bit tricky but you can undo the screw without dropping the valve body. Replace the pan gasket and filter and fill it back up with the correct fluid and your away.

heat the connectors up with a lighter, it makes the plastic soften therefore easier to disconnect.

so just dont force anything and take care. If i break something then looks like ill be going to DRW's so they can fix the damage.
Ill make a doco up on it too.

whats the problem with the box? well for me it went into LMH untill it was hot then it would be fine after a restart. The S2 is a gear change one. Basically its responsible for the gear changes...funny that. The 1 and 3 are for the gear selection, the 5 is for oil pressure and the s7 is a tourque converter one. I found after replacing my S2 i have a much smoother gear change. It doesnt clunk if you gear down and really the change is quicker. The solinoids are worth $50 from transmission groups new and Fraud for about $85. Ill do the doco up and hopefully mum hasnt deleted the photos off the cam for that and the heat tap. Was a quick job. Took about 35 mins to get the pan off, get the filter out, get the solinoid out, new solinoid in, new filter, new gaskit and then gilling time. The job took 1.5 hours including driving to super s**t auto for the good old ATF.
