Hi guys, i have just taken the stndard headunit out of my 93 ltd, (the one with the 6 disk stacker) so im geussing its the same as a 93 fairlane? what i need to know is what colour wires mean what, the wires in the loom in the din slot are all random colour codes, the wires on the back of the headunit are all real colours, what im going to do is just chop the plug off the headunit and wire my new stereo into that (so i can plug it into the din loom plug) i need to know what these colours represent as they are in different slots in the plug, i have a red, yellow, blue, black, 2 green, 2 pink 2 white and 2 grey. also how do i go about installing the cd changer into my new stereo as the plugs are those crazy 8 pin plug things and the new headunit has rca's.

Any help would be great,

Cheers,
mason

Hey mate, if your using only the standard speakers (ie: no subs or amps) then you won't have to use the RCA's.

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=15

This has the wiring colours for you to use.

As a general break down, you will be using the following:

constant power (which is +12V when the car is off to save memory)
+12V IGN (provides power to the unit when the ignition is on)
Battery ground (Provides your power return path)
And then a positive/negative pair for each speaker (so 8 in total)

Also, disconnect the battery before doing this so you don't accidentally short any wires and blow a fuse.
