I'm sure with 3 people on board you'd be at quite a disadvantage or the EL probably wasnt trying - either that or you took off and he followed, but you've gotta be quite a bit faster to win once you react to someone trying to race you and then catch up. Think about it, by the time he hears your exhaust and/or your wheels chirp and realises "this a** hat in the commodore with all his mates on board is trying to race me" and he reacts 1-2 seconds has past making your 16 second car the equilavent of a 14 second car. As I've said in the past, there's so many variables on the street and the biggest is reaction time. Why didn't you just hold up time slips and say - ner ner, my car is faster :P

You better check your figures too - off the top of my head the difference was more like 20kw - the VR around 129kw and VS around 148kw

I have no trouble chopping V6 commos down to size. Even the old 5.0 commos were given good scares. The LS1s I can't touch unless by surprise.

Oh good, race commodores with blown head gaskets and you're sure to win! LOL

That said, I used to have a manual VN V6 with a cat back exhaust and a blown head gasket (patched up with a $6 bottle of chemiweld!) and I beat a mates VRSS (V8 auto) off the grid from mount panorama ...and I have it on tape :)

VR's stock 0-100 time is like 8.9 seconds, and the same for an el - ef. The Vn's 0-100 times are 8.1 and the Vp's is 8 flat. The Vn's are the hardest to beat to 80k's then after that the ford just chomps away at em. I have found making the ford breathe better especially my EA with custom air intake and Kand N filter really imporved launch as well as unleashing the 380nm worth of torque at 4250 revs.

Was there a hint of sarcasm there XGPANELVAN?

Perhaps other V6 commo's had blown head gaskets too?

... *wonders* are we talking about the 'blown' V6 commo's as I have to admit I have lost to a few of them.

Yeah those Mitsu Gallant VR4's are certainly Wolves in sheeps clothing aye. Wouldn't pick em having Turbos in em :D Very embarassing if you try having a traffic light drag with them

i lke ford as much as the rest of you, but if your standard then your gonna lose. the vs only had 5 kw at the flywheel more than the vr, which is like 1 maybe 2 at the rears.
thats f**k all difference.
you just gotta face up to the truth.
ive seen my mates old vr eat up tonnes of cars to many times.
we had 3 people in his on the way back from the drags and draged an el xr6. and we just nugged in front. and thats with extra weight.

Your having a lend of yourself dude, i doubt the xr6 was trying and what speed did you drag up to? We are talking about 400m drags up to the 130km/h mark. Stock and in good nick EF's will always beat VR's and VS's
