I was just curious about the standard auto box's in '03 BA XT's.

I have a ba with a bit over 100k km's on the clock, largely with the driving being country at constant speed. The car is pretty much perfect.

I was just wondering what kind of power these box's handle, and are they reliable or known to be problematic?

Generalisation I know, but imagine the reliability of an EF/EL/AU auto... Think of what it can handle power wise and its MTBF design of 200-250,000km.

Then make the internal parts cheaper and of a lesser quality and you have a BA auto. :?

lookin at anywhere between 250-300kw as far as i've read for a 4-speed. Mine seemed to be handling fine with 250kw until my trans cooler split and i ended up with water in my 4-speed. How long it lasts really depends on how you drive it.

You should be fine, unless your planning on supercharging it

XR6T boxes have Kevlar bands as opposed to the standard bands, but the remainder of the internals are the same.
