Recently whenever I put my brakes on, from about 30kms to stop, my steering shudders..This same thing used to happen in my mums EF and it was cause she needed her discs machined.. So I took on of the front wheels of and had a look, but to me the disc looked pretty flat, could it still be that? I also had a look at the pads, but im not sure how to tell when they are getting worn out, is that orange mark that is on the top of the caliper there to tell how thick the pad should be? I have had the car for a year and a half and im not sure when the pads wouldve been changed before I got it...any help would be great thanks

Check the pads and if they lie flat on the rotors, you need new pads.

yeah the pads lie flat on the rotor, so is that no good? should a section of it be raised or something that gets worn away when they're old?

Lol atleast yours dont need machineing on average every 7,000kms..... i dont notice mine so much around town but if i speed up to 120 then put brakes on the entire car shakes and steering wheel feels like its bouncing.... But i thrash my brakes so i expect that....

I had the same problem, thought it was the breaks but after the new suspension went it the bouncing steering has disappeared.

Cheers.
