I've always used hot water directly from the hot water unit to wash my car, I have found that the meguires woolen glove with the bug remover on the other side is the best thing to wash my car with. Other sponges always made swirl marks.
cheers, Jason. |

hot water wont stop swirl marks, hot water leaves less water marks when it dries. only way to stop swirl marks is to always use your washing glove/mitt in the same direction every time and dont rub it round in circles(this goes for drying the car aswell) and rince the mitt in clean water after every pannel to remove the dirt and do the top half the car first as this has less dirt on it. only way to remove thoes swirl marks is to polish them out. in the detailing thread in exterior mods there is a method you can follow for washing your car and have minimal chance of leaving marks.
hope that helps

As i being an ex car detailer for Benz, you get swirl marks from polishing in circles and buffing, and hot water will not prevent that or remove them.

yeah, do you mean swirls in the paintwork, or streaks from washing it?
streaks from washing is usually caused by not rinsing the soap away thoughroly enough. also, what sort of chamoi do you use? |

What a brilliant description, I laughed when hot water could prevent it. The only way to get rid of them is good old fashioned polishing. |
