Yes the I6 and V8 boxes are different. You need a V8 box, and they are expensive and can be hard to find.

You can use a I6 box but you need to change the input shaft. PM Banarcas on here i think it is, he has and I6 T5 in his EB 5.0 Fairmont wagon.

This is possible, but from what I hear the V8 input shaft are again very hard to get. I think this is only really possible if you are looking for a cheap replacement for a blown V8 T5 and the input shaft is not damaged.
I have also heard about people cutting and welding I6 input shafts to make V8 boxes, but there are more differences between I6 and V8 boxes than the input shaft.

the input shaft is a different length as well as the bell housing being different and i think the ratio's are different as well , there is a place that makes the input shaft to suit for about $170 i don't know the joint but if you PM sam12h he had the shaft made up for is I6 box to run behind his V8, he should be able to tell you what you need to do.
