k
I'm going top mount turbo and i was going to a T4 turbo

I did plan to get the flange machined after it is welded
so i should really have any problems with the manifold flange being warped after it shaved a mil or 2 off.

Why is it a problem on fords when all them skylines, wrx's, 180, etc they all got stainless aftermarket manifold and i havn't herd of any problems with them warping than they drive there car a hell of a lot harder then me.

so you guys suggest that i use a steel flange with stainless piping?

Cheer's,
Jason

Because they are made in China...
And there's 100,000,000 of them made...
To prevent warping cut slits between ports on flange plate and drill outside holes on flange bigger....

all those cheap ebay stainless manifolds do crack up..

a properly designed, fabricated and welded THICK walled stainless manifold will outlast a mild steel one of the same wall thickness...

what wall thickness stainless have you got???

for all intents and purposes, it is easier to make a fail proof mild manifold than it is to make one in stainless, it is a lot more forgiving due to its lower thermal expansion rate...

and something im not sure if you had considered when going stainless, is the extra effort required to work stainless ie, die-grinding/cutting... it is death on die grinder burrs and cutting wheels

10 points for giving it a go, i like looking at other peoples creations.. good luck with it and be sure to post some progress pics for us
