hey guys

when i fly out to where i work i leave my car sitting in my lockup garage and it isnt started for around 25 days. i have a capacitor in the boot which sucks all the juice out and it has got me thinking that i should disconnect the battery before i leave. which terminal should i disconnect and will this f**k anything up?

disconnect the negative,,it will only reset everything,run a bit rough,nothing major

if you go away a fair bit, buy a battery terminal switch, they arn't real expensive and makes disconnection the battery easy and without tools, i have fitted one to my XR as i only start it once a month..

i think that it would still draw current cause the capacitor has a separate earth in the boot. would it still discharge?

Otherwise leave it connected get a battery maintainer (power point or solar pannel style) and just connect that when you leave. Then you know thatyour returning to a fully charged battery.

For longer life and better starting from your battery go for the charger as in post above if you can. Batteries do self discharge even when disconnected.

The lowest rated charger will be all thats needed to keep your basttery in the same state of charge as it was when you parked your car.

Also will save you having to wait for computer to relearn its functions each time you go away!!
