Hi guys,
heres a really weird question for you - is a Ford pre-crossflow Bosch distributor the same as a Holden red motor Bosch distributor?? What has got me thinking is that I noticed the last time I purchased points that they use the same number for holden 6's - so what, you say? Well, the holden boys can use VK distributors which drop into an earlier red motor , so if they ARE the same that means we can use a vk dizzy too for an easy electronic conversion!!

By memory the differance between them is the length off the shaft.
You could proberly swap the top internals over from the holden one to your ford one. But you could also do that with the ford x-flow one. Why not place the x-flow electronic dissy in as all you have to do is either, 1.Make a bush for where it sits in the block or 2. Turn down the seat on the dissy to make it fit. |

yeah, this is the way I originally wanted to go - I went to a wreckers , pulled an xe dizzy, and fitted it into a pre-xflow motor in the wreckers - shaft length, gear, etc all seem good, even the bush you are talking about you could almost get away with not doing it as there really isnt a lot of play but the problem is the clamping area of the xe dizzy completely covers the threaded clamp bolt hole - you would have to machine/grind most of this pad away to make it fit....

I think the shaft sizes may vary, on which model it was from.

That last bit would be easy to get away with though, and for about $30 a dizzy, if they chopped out you could replace them easy too JAIKAI |

Thats what I thought too - until I saw how much material you'd have to remove even to be able to see the threded hole - not sure it would work. I saw a post on here a while ago by a guy who had done this - anyone know who? or anyone else who has done this?
