hi
when i put the au engine in my car i saw a round tag glued to the head on the front near the inlet manifold.. today when i was checking out the belts i noticed it again and thought id ask if anyone else has seen this? it says warranty void if removed . my question is why would the warranty be void? (obviously the warranty is expired) is this a factory tag? or has the head been repaired or replaced by ford? this is the first time ive seen one of these and im curious!

its there because the engine had been reco'd,,they fall off if the engin over heats,,also when you degrease it,,it happened on an engine i had,,they got out of fixing it because that disc fell off.
just another way of screwing the consumer.

so its been reco'd?? that kinda interesting the engine came out of a au fairmont with 77000 kms on it but i guess it could of been a factory reco. i know it was the original block from the car it came from because the engine and vin matched .. |

the item itself is an alloy washer with lead in the middle
thay are usually fitted to second hand engines that are sold with a warranty.. the reason for this is, if the engine is cooked the lead melts out, if the engine cooks the warranty is void, in the stipulations for warranty in most cases the engine needs to be fitted by a qualified mechanic, with new heater and radiator hoses and the radiator flushed.... basicly if the engine is cooked is not the fault of the seller of the engine but of the one who has fitted it..

That is correct, and they also stick them on reco'd heads, and reco'd engines. Usually they stick them at the rear.

ok
well i did get warranty on the engine. i got 6 months 20'000kms . i just dont know if it was there before the engine was removed from the car or the wrecker put it on after it was removed from the wreck. thanks guys |

i use to work at a wreckers a while ago and when they sold a motor with warrenty they would stick that little disc on and usually on a welsh plug

TROYMAN ...i have one in the same spot you do ... and the wrecker puts it on there prior to selling with warranty .... I picked up an AU engine with 66,000km on it myself.

Smart thing to do on the part of the bloke selling the engine, if someone else's incompetence leads to the engine being fryed why should they have to pay for it
