Hey guys, I've done some searching but haven't been able to find any posts that cover installing a BA/BF xr6t engine into an AU series 1 (stock forte).

I looked through the retrofit sticky but the only mention of this conversion was: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... 887#516887 which no one seems to have answered.

Basically I want to know what would be involved in fitting either a BA of BF i6 turbo plus 6 or 5 speed manual box into an AU. The AU is currently running an auto and it's all pretty much stock apart from the suspension, I'd be looking at upgrading the breaks http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=89164 before the engine too.

I'm assuming a diff upgrade would be in order also?

Is the BA/F engine to AU a straight forward switch? I'm guessing I'd need to modify the bonnet (it's the low set center style bonnet). What about wiring, ECU, intake/intercooler and exaust etc? Any ideas much appreciated.

Far from it. Still need a computer to run it. FTG kind of got one working using an AU ecu, but I dont think it ran well.

I know you have searched, but there are a hell of a lot of DOHC conversion threads and one has the details of an AU conversion. Might pay to keep looking. I think it might also be linked from the FAQ sticky.
