Hi,

Just about to start instal of cruise to EF series 2, non ABS.

I know that the engine bay loom must be changed , but does the dash loom need to be changed as well. The guy I got the cruise control off has sent me the engine bay loom and the dash loom. Don't really want to pull the dash out.

Has anyone else done this???

Regards Simon

not 100% sure on this. I don't think you have to change it. Just instal the ABS as per normal leaving the dash loom and see if the ABS lamp comes on after you have installed the module and etc

Yeah i done my EF a few years back, i bought the engine bay loom new and fed it through the firewall and spliced it into the loom under the dash.
From memory it was all pretty basic, the hardest part was doing that loom under the dash.

Done it twice.
You only need from memory to pass 5 wires from dash loom to module.
Obtain earth from engine bay.

With a bit patience its pretty easy.
Just double check all wires b4 battery reconnection!

remember ford uses same color wires (even some on the same plug) these can be identified with the dots on the wires.

dazzat and i used this info on his car. (yep the practice car)

hope it helps

There is a doco on this - http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=11
If that didn't answer your questions then maybe after you've done yours you can suggest some amendments so that the next person to come along has a bit more info...

Mate youve probably done this by now but if not, the short answer is you ONLY need to change the engine bay loom.

I did this a couple of months ago on my EF2. I was asking the exact same question and in the end just ended up doing it.

Just to clarify after re-reading this post, replacing the 'engine bay' loom is a dash out job, since it goes through the firewall and runs all the way across to the passenger side. Took me a good afternoon to install everything but its not too hard a job really.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I ended up just stripping the cruise part of the loom off the ABS type engine bay loom (connector and 6 or 7 wires). Then connected the earth to the wiper loom earth. Then have fed the rest of the wires throught the firewall grommet and started to attach the wires on the dash loom side of the large white connectors. So far so good, haven't finished yet, still have a bit to do.
