does the stage 3 include a rebuild of the engine?

i would suggest this just to keep it reliable, i did this at 186000km and i found out the headgasket only had 2mm before it would have started leaking. its always better to just check things or u will spend more in the long run. trust me i know

The JMM kits are top end rebuilds - new headgaskets obviously then. The bottom end is left untouched unless you pay extra.

Yer i recon you wont have a problem, but if you do just go a new engine.

But cant really tell you weither to go for the house (i would go for the house) or the car.
That is your choice, and yours alone. :D

Give it to them to dyno prior to any work. You'll see if it's held the factory figures and if it has you can question it if you don't get the advertised performance gains!!!

JMM's 140rwkw is for a manual car IIRC, they will tell you will get less than that with an Auto.
i think a stock EL should get around 90rwkw.
The dev3HL does not have any head work, 3g a bit much IMO.

Mail Order Kits & Parts Price for the kit $ 2,245 if you can do the work yourself.

go to that link see what is included. id probably shop around and do it with different parts. Pacemaker extractors, wade cam, intake mods.

also remember you have a 98EL, check to ensure if it is Hybrid engine as you will require different parts.

if my i6 got 90rwkw ill go home and cry on my pillow, i can almost garrantie you that atm you will get 97-108rwkw(depending on the dyno, fuel, weather ect).
assembling the parts yourself will be a good way to save money, however if you dont do everything according to specification you wont get the full gains of the gear. if i were you ild just get mock to install the cam + gear, the rest you will save by getting elsewere and airfilter and stuff can be done yourself.
hybird engines respond better to basic mods from what i herd

180km isnt massive, A well looked after 4.0L can do several times that. Id only be considering rebuilds if there are real signs of engine problems (head gasket problems would be the first one go be looking for)

ps: ild be more worried about the tranny then the engine if i were you

look back on page 1, i told you the life of the engine will be atleast 2 or 3 times more then the tranny. if i were you ild give it a good service and add a tranny cooler to get maximum life out of it
