Has anyone modified their gearshift on a T5 to remove the rubber joiner between the stick and the box?? i dont like the feel of the spongy rubber, and the rubber in mine is all flogged out and the sticks floppy...
i was thinking of having some bushes made up to fit in the stick to reduce the diameter, and bolt it straight onto the box...

Has anyone done this??
thanks
David

I removed it alltogether. Gives better feel from the box itself. I expected some gearbox noise through the stick but didn't notice any. Only drawback I could see (or feel) was that the stick gets hot and I have a steel shifter :(

I have removed the rubber, and in its place made up a steel block, works quite well.
You could also get an ELGT stick, the rubber was replaced with nolathane.
