I know jmm sell the three inch intake pipe that runs from the filterbox to the Throttle body, but does anyone else know where to get them from. i have been trying to source either stainless steel or aluminim, but i dont want a join in the 180degree bend, just silicon joins at either end???
thanks

Most quality exhaust shops should be able to do it...liverpool exhaust in sydney did mine, it is only a straight bid of 3inch stailess pipe, but they also do full mandrel bends in 3 inch......no noticable performance gains but looks the goods and tidies up the engine bay!

I have a friend who runs a stainless steel welding business i can organise his number if your keen, hes an awesome welder / fabricator.

I seen an intake pipe about 3 weeks ago made from that flexi duct you buy from spare parts places, very cheap idea but i think it would still be effective, just not the right way to go over the long term etc.

this is my setup, costs about a 3rd of the price of a one peice intake made by an exhaust place...
still does the job and looks the goods...

That looks pretty good, nice job.
are they all straight pieces of 3 inch pipe?
aluminium or stainless?
and any notice at all with performance and induction sound?

cheers

how is it a flow killer? its bigger than 3" and leads nicely into the tb!
plus its rubber and doesnt heat up like the big 180 deg turns you see over the rocker cover...

yeah its in stainless, 2 staight peices, and one 60 deg bend.
yeah it does make more induction noise, i have a pod on the end of it in the box which would add to the noise too.
cold air intake, intake pipe and filter all together, will give you a performance gain...

because of how sharp the short side turn is. It hardly leads nicly into the TB at all.

you'd be better with one of the large 3 inch pipes with a nice radius.
if you are so worried about heat put some exhaust wrap on the pipe.
a point on heat though, Most of it is picked up inside the air box anyway..
if you have 10mins to spare id posted the results of a temp prob test i did about a year ago that tells you the temps i recorded at various points along the intake

but basicly there was a temp difference of only about 10 degree C from the the air box to the TB, bout about 20 or 30 degree C from the air box to out side the car. are temp at the TB was a little under 80
