Hi guys,
Seems you can spot an Xf throttle boy on almost any car. I have seen examples in street machine, on calaisturbo.com, the xf TB seems to pop up on a heap of cars. I was wondering as to wether an xf throttle body would fit into my 4L EF ? Has anyone done this before, I know there is'nt much to be gained with a larger throttle body on the six as they have a tendancy to run rich already, but then its not a mod that anyone else has done, and wouldnt cost too much. I know spider_gt was attempting it.. stupid mod in my opinion unless your TB is a restriction... just leave it. And if you just wanna experiment, and its cheap enough, make "making it fit" part of the experminemt, and go buy one lol... let us know how you went.
Cheers

One prob that I think that you will run into is that the TPS will now be out of calibration with your MAP sensor and its not withing the limits of the EEC to compensate for this unless you do so with an aftermarket ecu. It will cause you headaches and not worth the effort

The only reason everyone uses XF tbs are that they have no IAC mounted on them, are a decent size, cheap and plentiful, and the TPS on them is a very common type. Ignoring the IAC, mounting the XF onto an E-series motor will pose no problem with the TPS because its the same.
XF and E series tbs are the same size. |

Looks like this will be an 'in my spare time' mod.

i would not bother at all, complete waste of spare time at that.
It would be more worthwhile modifying the plastic intake pipeing for more flow, not much gain to be had but certaintly more than a throttle body change |
