After many frustrating and expensive attempts - ball joints, tie rods, nolathane, shocks, springs, shocks & springs again, it goes on....... I have found a guy who seems to be a wiz of fords. He advised the removal of the pads and the replacement of the shims where the edge of the pads sits on the brake caliper. I was very dubios because of the volume of the clunk - partucally when breaking and turning - that I didn't think that this would have any impact - After buying new shims ($14.00nz) I doused them liberally with disk brake quiet and re assembled. Problem solved.
$1000's later this $14.00 part was the culprit. I recomend to anyone with a noisy front end to replace this shims. G ood luck! |

No better advertising than word of mouth. Good point, more people like to bad mouth than praise mechanics so I bet this guy would appreciate the gesture.

It only started after Falcon Specialist did my front rotors and brakes. Something trivial also, they said oh we can do the front rotors and brakes for $200.00 all up. Only later I found that they are machined 2nd hand rotors that warped almost straight away. Drivers side slightly seized, and the car rocks like a baby carriage when I gently brake to a stop. Falcon Specialist (and wreckers) what a friggin nightmare they turned out to be, so I just assume they helped to create the knocking front end too. |
