ef engine taking agers to start dose any one know y this is happening or it has happened to you can you please advise me of any answers to the problem.

clogged injectors/filter
spark plugs gone/leads coil pack dieing. most important, get the battery checked, replaced mine two days ago (from an 8 yr old one and makes all the diff in the world)

you have done the batty but no diff and the car has been run mostly on gas for about 2 years now

a new set of plugs and leads wouldnt go astray, but if its taking ages to start it'd probably be injectors or coil packs.
Is it hard to start when cold? Hard to start when hot? Or both?

Are you having trouble starting on gas and petrol?
If only on petrol, how old is fuel? Check batt leads, including small ones for corrosion. Check body earth cable to batt and earth from starter to under body near ECU (EA had one, not sure of others). pull out fuel pump and ecu relays and check socket contacts for corrosion. Check relay internal contacts for pitting and corrosion. good luck!

Just serviced my car, and put on new leads and fuel filter, as well as the usual oil & filter change. My missfire and hot start issues are a letter less severe, but still there. So now the focus shifts to the battery and coil packs. I tested my old leads once I got them off and all seemed ok anyway.
Can anyone tell me what kinda readings I'd get out of a good coil if I bashed a multi meter on it? As in resistance or output volts or whatever?

yeah thanks for all the help i will try all that
i have now done the o2 and map and nothing changed but now i am about to do the injectors so we will see how she goes later 2 day. if all stays the same then i will look at the coil pack next |

ok guys yeah i am going to change the coil pak if dose not work the engine is going in the bin
