Can someone comfirm that the el gli swaybar is the same side as the xr6 swaybar. The front swaybars only. Rang Ford and they said it is the same but i keep hearing that they are different.
Also how big is the el gt swaybars. Might just buy one of them from. They are around $73. Cheers Adam.

i know the standard gli/futura swaybar is 27mm, but not sure on the xr sway bar,
im 90% sure that the EL GT sway bar is 30mm. $73 for an EL GT sway bar is a very good price, what dealer is that from.

AFAIK it is larger and price sounds about right. Whiteline are larger again and better, but dearer and arguably not worth twice the price for not much more gain.

If u want there address just let me know. Most likely going there tomrrow to buy one. Read someone that whiteline swaybars are 30mm and are going for $180. But not sure what else comes with it. The guy i spoke to said i mostly have to get the rubber things aswell.. cant remember wat he said.

All you'll need with the sway bar is the rubber bushes. You need the bushes to suit the size of the sway bar.
The whiteline comes with yellow urethane bushes. |

I did have an XH Ute front bar on, they were 28mm, thats the 1 tonne ute one, also same as XH ambo's one. I had it on my EA, using EF outer link kits.
I now have Whiteline ones on it now, 32mm front & 27mm rear.

How much of a difference did it make by upgrading to a 32mm? Noticable?

EL's are 27mm across the range.
EL GT and XH bars were 28mm. So you're getting an extra 1mm for the $73. |

Thanks. Went to ford this morning and the size of it didnt come up on the computer. He said the bushes are the same size as the standard one. So they were the same or close to each other.
Now im looking at whiteline. Trying to think if i should buy a swaybar or lower the car...

You wont feel any difference with the GT swaybar. It makes SFA difference.
So I would look at Whiteline. I have 30mm adjustable on the front and 24mm fixed on the rear. The way I have it set now gives a fair bit of understeer. Will need to adjust the front. But I can power into a bend and keep on feeding power into the rear and it will overcome the understeer and keep fairly neutral. The cornering speed and stability it offers is quite amazing. Quite easily shows up a BA. And I'm running stock EL XR suspension at the stock height. However, this is in the dry. It is a handful in the wet. Slides and understeers very easily, as there is no longer any body weight over the front wheels on cornering. Softening up the front bar should fix this. If you get a fixed 30mm and 24mm rear, you will end up with close to the factory balance between over/under steer, but with a s**t less body roll. Only factor then is the lack of grip in the wet. It was commented that my car offered the same level of grip at stock XR height as someone elses on superlows with Koni shocks. Only difference is that my car will have a bit more inital body roll because of the height, but at least I get to keep the comfort and Melbourne road usability. |

the thing is my car is already easy to loose traction in the wet when going around corners. The shocks a sorta gone. And also i got heaps of body roll.
Probly go with the shocks and springs instead of the swaybar.

I have to disagree with you. Swaybars got to do with handling. They help when going around a corner fast. E.G. If a corner is very tight and recommend speed is 30 and you are doing 60. This is where the swaybar will help.
Like stanxr6 said, please explain.
