Ok,

I've a 91' carb XF ute, from the outside.... it looks like its never seen the day!
its been amazingly maintained by the old man.

The problem is.... its bloody GUTLESS.

Currently has:
4.1, dual fuel, T5 (late model), 3.25LSD 4 pinion. 100ltr gas.

2 things NEEDED are:

A/C! this is a must... however if we put that in.. it prolly wont move.
4.0 from an XG.

So I need a List of the parts required as I'll be doing this over then next few months.

Please add to it and or advise on other items!

Motor (incl manifold and addons)
PS pump.
Bellhousing (have)
Engine Loom. (entire front)
Cabin Loom. (have ECU, cluster, ignition barrel, bem)
Front Sway bar.
Engine mounts.

anyone been caught with parts missing no matter how obvious or stupid1

all help will be appreciated!

Radiator is something else you have forgotton. I used an ef radiator with the twin thermos, it's a tight squeeze bit it does fit. With modified top mounts.

Header tank and brackets if you are going xg spec and also hoses to suit.

You said you wanted air con so you will also need xg air con lines and as I have found the tx valve going into the evaporator has different size holes which the pipes go into and seal. So if you are fitting all of the wiring change your evaporator for an xg one. I havent been bothered to do this yet.

Xg power steering lines and possibly the power steering box itself as if I remember correctly the fittings are different on the xg lines going into the power steering box. I just modified my xf line but will more than likely go to xg line and box as I want to go turbo.

With engine mounts us ea/ed upper mounts with the xg bottom mounts and with the xg swaybar you will have no clearance issues with your sump. Originally I was using the xf bottom mounts with ea/ed upper mounts and found I had clearance issues with the sump and the swaybar.

With the cluster you will also need an xg metal mounting bracket and outer plastic cover so that it all fits in.

Tailsharft is something else I used an e series sedan sharft and that bolted strait up I used the gearbox crossmember that came with my gearbox which was out of an eb.

I would keep a look out for a smashed xg that you can get all the parts you need out of that.

I'm sure there is some stuff that I have forgotton but if I remember i'll post it up.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Anyone know the laws with emmisions and changing to a later model motor in Vic?

I assume EPA ok's a newer motor in older cars and the fact Im downsizing to a 4.0 shouldn't rise any issues.?¿

Ok, so far im about to tackle this bugger flat out.

I guess there'd be some interest if I take photo's and make a doco?

My starting point will be around June 22nd, and should have everything ready.

And Finnaly. Aircon evap's do I have to use X series. or can i use some E's?
