hi
ive noticed that when i push my clutch in my pedal box is flexing and starting to bend..
ive read a few threads on this but what i want to know is can the pedal box be removed without removing the dash??

in some of the other threads some say yes need to remove the dash.
and there is a few people that say no you dont need to remove the dash.

to be honest i dont really want to remove the dash..

i need some advice and opinions..

yes you'll have to remove the dash to get the pedal box out.

you'd be better off reinforcing a new one, that way there is no stuffing around trying to get the pivot straight befor you weld it. and at only $120 it's not like they are expensive.

while you have the dash out it would also pay to reinforce the firewall where the cable comes through.

thanks

ive already done the firewall and replaced the cluch cable..
i guess i will have to bite the bullet and undo the dash lol

i will be re-enforcing the pedal box so i dont have to do it again..
i was hoping i could get away with leaving the dash in...

You could always get an auto pedalbox and another brakepin and try this: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=625134 .
The fellas at Seven Hills (Pick & Pull) would be cheaper for these bits than Pick N Paymore I'd think.
Have it ready to go in before you pull the dash - make a clutch switch bracket and fit it too, in case you want to install cruise (or it's already fitted).
The dash only needs to come back a foot or so, so you shouldn't need to disconnect any plugs, etc, just lower the steering column onto the front seat.

Dont lower and let the steering column hang, remove it.
When you lower it you will stuff the lower bush/bearing (if not right away, it will die a few months later), which isnt replacable. The whole column has to be replaced. They are $700 ish from Ford.

Undo the steering shaft in the engine bay (2x10mm bolts)
Undo the column mount on the firewall (4x bolts)
Then undo the remaining 2 bolts that are under the dash.

Do it any other way and you risk stuffing the bearing.

i started removing the dash today .
so far i got the column out easy. ive removed the cluster, console and undone the 2 bolts just above the kick panels the 2 bolts in the middle infront of the console and the handbrake ive un screwed the bonnet cable from the dash. ive also removed the screws on top of the dash .
the dash is pretty much loose but there is something still holdin it on the drivers side near the fuse box but ive run out of daylight so ill get back into it tomorrow afternoon..
is there anything ive missed??

well im not completly removing the dash im just pulling it back enough to undo those nuts at the top of the pedal box..
if there wasnt that bloody air ducting right in front of the top 3 nuts on the pedal box you could get it out without removing the dash!
