I have a mate that's got an EF Futura (auto), and allmost every time he starts his car, he has to flick the lights on and off before it will start.. Any one have any ideas on what will cause this???

Just an idea but a mate had a security system that for some reason, to disarm it, you had to turn the lights on and off
 . Just and idea.

the car is stock with no added extras lika alarms, imoberlisers, etc..

The BEM can get dry joints on the PCB which makes starting intermittent at times.

i dont have an answer to your question but i have a similar problem in my ed. more often than not the car will not start unless i hold the key in the start position and release the handbrake, but then there is the very rare occasion that the car will start normally once you turn the key.
i like the idea of dry points on the BEM as this is directly above the handbrake. how would go about fixing this. is it as simple as spraying the contacts with electrical contact cleaner or some spray along those lines
