just want some ideas on budget engine mods i can carry out my self and injector size on efxr6 as i have a dyno comp cominup and want some cheap grunt out of the xr6

depends how budget your talkin i would smash a cam about 2400/6200 with shimed up springs and sum new lifters that should set you back $500 then put a stally in it like a 2500rpm that should do put bigger injecters get a piggy bak computer and a decent tune up and u should get some decent hp out of it

im talkin major budget as in very little to free.thinkin injectors,port matched manifold,clampin the vaccum for the pressure regulator,has 5 speed in it so no probs there,want to know injector size so i can maybe upgrade to au xr spec

i think there only like 54cc i THINK but the au are bigger because there is a ten second turbo ea wit them in it for that reason so go for it but i wouldent worrie about port matchin the manifold it does fuk im a head reconditioner by trade and iv learned it doesent do much put a high flo exaust and some springs in it or shim the springs and a cam a cam will make a hugh difference

There honestly aint much you can do unless you spend a bit off money, get a new filter (K&N) and snorkel....still that is gonna cost anywhere between $80-$150 and it wont give you hardly any power gain but that is the cheapest mod i can think off

cheap things to do to get little power:
1) remove filter from box 2)run high octane fuel 3)unbolt extractors from the cat, and remove the cat + catback(not recomended but yould get more power then you think) dont even bother with the injectors i garantie you yould get more then 7.852rwkw from these.

dyno comp is in geraldton on the 2nd of june at cms automotive.car already has pacemakers,lukey exhaust,"high flow"cat,K&N filter that sits under the factory vent which has had gay plastic thing underneath removed,it is an original xr6 has 160 000 kays on it and goes hard,im thinkin maybe it has roughly 160-170 rwkw just lookin for that little bit more,how bout porting exhaust side of the head to match extractors??

hey to spend little money and get some more power you can do small mods like a 180 degrees thermostat, your air filter, even different air inductions

Hmmmm i doubt you'll be getting over 140 let alone 160. The ports only need a clean up, the bowls are where you'll gain power. To be honest, you've already done the bolt on stuff, next step is cam and head work. Bigger injectors will get you nowhere, same with upping the fuel pressure, they already run on the rich side, and you don't have enough mods to need it. |

cheers so much for your help,i think ill just clean the ports and hope for the best,experimenting on the day i spose is about the only thing i could really do,what sort of cam should i go for and what else needs to be done to accept it,should just be a straight bolt in thing hey?im lookin at turbo kits for when i do get a bit of coin on my side

i would put money on it having less than 160kw if that is all that has been doen, i think about 140rwkw at the most

i only ran a 141.9 with head work extractors full exhaust cam k&n fule reg at 300kpa and au injectors 5 speed trans extream hd clutch 3.27 diff so good luck breaking the 160rwkw was dissapointed with the power but i guess its all the old thing makes

i would say a cam would be your best next move for power...
