hi all,
just needing alittle help with my interior, the roof has started to come off, and i want to change afew things anyway. Am i better off getting somone to do it, or is it pretty easy? don't really want to spend thousands, if i can stick the roof back on i will, just need to know if it's worth it. what is better out of vinyl and leather? or is there any others that would do the job and how much am i looking at to get it done properly? cheers ACIDIC

Well to do the roof lining in some nice velour or the like usually costs around 150 bucks
I bodgied mine the other day, and in my hasty impatience and lack of care (because I couldn’t be stuffed really) I broke some of the clips off in the trims, so they are floating around in the cars roof rails and side pillars. I ended up giving up since getting it done professionally gets a good result and you get some sort of warranty with the work. I have successfully done a roof liner but it was in a sigma wagon he he. I used a nice thick grey felt type material, which the contact adhesive wouldn’t penetrate. Then I use a flat spreader to keep the material flat and stop it bubbling up. You don’t need to cut anything until the roof lining is in but when you are ready to do it just cut the items in question out with an x and fold the excess over or cut it out neatly. If you spend some time fiddling around with it you should get a nice result. Good luck mate. I haven’t got the patience for this sort of thing since I do lounge suites at work and have to work with contact adhesive all the time. It stinks! Cheers Sam.

you could have a look in the phone book for upholstery supplies. Or you could try spotlight as they have a large range of stuff you can use in the car. I think if you have a go at it you will be surprised at how easy it is. so long as you prepare it first. probably cover the seats up with a couple of old sheets or something to keep the foam s**t from going all over it.

Would it not be easier to get the lining out of another EF/EL?

if you can get it out without breaking anything, that would work, but you have to
1 pay for it 2 pull it out 3 pull your old one out 4 put the new one in. so there are a few opportunities to break it there. best getting a nice new felt fitted anyway since the old one will bugger up eventually anyway since the foam lets go between the felt and the lining. and yes im a samboooo cheers Sam.
