my sister just bought a ef the problem is the idle is rough and when you rev it it holds on to the revs the comes down really slowly anyone know what would do that .

An EF falcon would do that. it's pretty much just the way they are. |

yup mine does it to, esp noticable when you unplug it (winding the throttle screw in aswell) it wont do it but mornings are a B*TCH...
im running it in its slow down reving state atm, you get used to it.. |

I even had to start my car once with the bonnet up to prove the point to a mechanic! My car runs a fairly large cam! All i know is that it is big as! I mean to the point when the car idles it tips side to side! I have plenty of adjustment still in my idle screw! But i have never had to touch it! As for the technicals on how mine idles without it im not too sure but i been told that the cam is the cause to it all! I had it plugged up recently and all it did was not wanna drop the revs, so i unplugged it and yeah all has come good! As for idle cold was a b**ch, but now i have no drama's since the screw has been adjusted to the right amount! |

It would be like that if the trans is in limp home as well.

its all about emissions... If you dump the throttle then shut it again you get a load of smoke... so the ecu opens it up a bit to keep it cleaner
as a matter of fact it probably saves the bores from petrol washing too and gives you a longer life bottom end |

ok i changed the ICS ,oxy sensor,map sensor,TPS, checked spark plugs lowered the idle speed it was to high and its slightly better and also its got a really rough idle as well would resetting the ECU help ,i cant really think of anything else on these cars.

Have you got access to someones ecu you can try?
Replace coil pack, check throttle cable movement? Cant be much more to try |

ohh yeh sometimes i can hear the injectors pulse really strangly like they all have a go at the same time then it has a bit of a mental attack straight after then back to normal .

reset then drive it around for a week to let it re-learn all the changes you have made
